CARTs and SARTs are county and statewide emergency animal response teams. Some states and local communities organize and coordinate animal disaster response resources through a State or County Animal/Agricultural Response Team. These groups are especially strong when they are integrated into the state/local emergency management system.

If you are interested in emergency animal response, these provide a great opportunity to learn and gain experience. These are typically all (or mainly all) volunteer organizations that have been formed to deal with and assist with animal emergencies in their area.

Investigate if your area has an animal response team and if it does not, learn how to create one to fill that need (details to come).
